Baby could only remain a fugitive for so long (after all there are only so many places to hide in the womb) and it was only a matter of time before baby stopped playing Twister for long enough (left leg, yellow) and actually revealed to us what was…or indeed wasn’t there.
Not, I hasten to add, that it mattered, all that it did matter was that all the corresponding bits were there and that they were healthy.
We waited with bated breath at the scan, which almost felt like the baby scan equivalent of that moment in Catchphrase when they reveal a tiny piece of the screen at a time so you can see what Mr Chips is up to, thus revealing a famous phrase with Roy Walker bellowing “Say what you see”.
Well, Roy Walker may not have been in the hospital that day (although, Roy, if you are reading, you would have been more than welcome) but his voice echoed through my head, Obi-Wan Kenobi like, “Say what you see, say what you see.”
And I did see.
And I did say.
And it was a girl.
